I have read all the security evaluations on Amazon from all the distinct security MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Security and so on. I was impressed that the critiques on this item did not mention anything about poor high quality, poor range and so on. I would like to let you know that the major programmer/ auto dialer is the very same on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 principal programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and three motion detectors and 2 remote important pods. I setup the method on my kitchen table in about 1/2 an hour. The siren is loud, considering that I bought the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors perform amazing. Not too sensitive but operate at long distances. I put 1 on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The key programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft residence and I do not know where to put the 3rd detector, the other 2 detectors cover my whole very first floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. You have the capability to dial into this technique and listen to what is happening, functions with my blackberry cellphone. UPDATE:
The program is awesome. No challenges. I use VOIP Vonage for my home phone and it works amazing on out going alerts from the AAS 100 security program, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I cannot dial into the AAS 100. SO....I purchased the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP phone . Its wonderful for a alarm process since it will dial out and I can now call in to my alarm. Expense? $1.95 per month. Amazing! If everyone finds a improved VOIP supply let me know!
Second update:
Located out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No trouble, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it every single time we go out. Even with the dog at dwelling. Appreciate this method.
Third update Feb 2011:
Method still working good. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they final about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Effortless to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some terrific offers on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No want for two systems, I by no means had to dial into the security process, no false alarms!
Had this alarm method for the final two months. Also, bought the GSM Cellular Module, for the reason that I do not have a land-line.
